General Requirements for Teaching in China

A: Most international schools require a Bachelor's degree (often in the subject you wish to teach), a valid teaching license/certification from your home country (not a must), and typically at least 2 years of full-time teaching experience post-qualification. Some schools may also prefer a Master's degree. Requirements can vary by school and position.

A: For most international school teaching positions, the language of instruction is English, so fluency in Mandarin is generally not a requirement for the teaching role itself. However, learning basic Mandarin can significantly enhance your daily life and cultural experience in China.

A: China's visa and work permit regulations typically have an age limit for foreign workers, under 60 years old.

A: Don't worry, the school will arrange for dependent visas for your family members, as long as your relationship certificates have been authenticated by the Chinese embassy in your country.

Life in China

A: The cost of living varies significantly by city. Tier 1 cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou or Shenzhen can be more expensive, while smaller cities generally offer a lower cost of living. Overall, many teachers find that their salaries allow for a comfortable lifestyle and good savings potential.

A: Many international schools provide housing allowances or furnished accommodation as part of their employment package. We will provide details on accommodation support relevant to each job offer.

A: Major cities have excellent international hospitals and clinics with English-speaking medical staff, catering to expat needs. Most international school packages include comprehensive health insurance, covering treatments at these facilities.

A: Absolutely! China boasts a highly efficient and extensive high-speed rail network (Gao Tie), making inter-city travel fast and convenient. Domestic flights are also readily available, allowing you to explore the country's diverse landscapes and cultures.
